Enzymatic cleaner
Also called: enzyme cleaner, enzyme detergent
A cleaner with enzymes that break down blood and other proteins.
Enzymatic cleaners contain enzymes (proteins that speed up chemical reactions) that break down blood, saliva and tissue so they rinse off more easily. They are used in ultrasonic tanks, in presoaks, or in washers, depending on the product.
How to spot it
- The word enzymatic or enzyme on a detergent label.
What it is used for
- As an ultrasonic solution or a holding presoak when instruments cannot be cleaned right away.
Safety and care
- Can irritate skin and eyes; wear utility gloves and eye protection.
- Mix and change as the label directs.
