Inverted cone bur

Also called: #33 1/2 bur, inverted cone

A bur shaped like an upside-down cone that makes undercuts to hold fillings.

An inverted cone bur is wider at its flat tip than at its neck, with sharp corners. It is used to make undercuts (small ledges) that help hold a filling in place.

How to spot it

  • Flat tip, sharp corners, narrowing toward the shank.

What it is used for

  • Creating undercuts and flattening the floor of a preparation.

Safety and care

  • Clean and sterilize, or discard if single-use.
