Impression gun and mixing tips (VPS)
Also called: dispensing gun, extruder gun, mixing tip, automix cartridge
A caulking-gun style dispenser that mixes two pastes through a spiral tip.
Many crown impression materials (such as VPS, vinyl polysiloxane) come in a double-barrel cartridge. The cartridge goes into the dispensing gun, a disposable spiral mixing tip goes on the end, and squeezing the trigger pushes both pastes through the tip where they mix. A small intraoral tip can be added to put material right around the tooth.
How to spot it
- A hand gun like a small caulking gun holding a double cartridge; a spiral mixing tip on the front.
What it is used for
Safety and care
- Mixing and intraoral tips are single-use.
- Wipe and disinfect the gun between patients.
