5. Inspect
Check every instrument for leftover debris, damage and rust.
Look closely at each instrument before it is packaged. Any debris means it goes back for cleaning. Broken, bent, rusted or dull instruments are set aside for sharpening, repair or replacement.
How to spot it
- Bits of cement, blood or calculus in hinges, serrations and on tips.
What you do
- Open hinged instruments to check the joints.
- Assemble sets in the order the cassette or tray is organized.
